Hey Hendrik,

Thanks again for signing the Honor Code some time ago. I wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. How do you like WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How To Pages been helpful or have they left you with questions?

Did you manage to contact the South African project?

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Hendrik and thank you for upgrading, 😊

I am very pleased to welcome you to the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

It is best to start with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration.

You mentioned that you don’t know much about your family tree yet. I assume you are new to genealogy. No problem! Every genealogist is a beginner at some point. Take your time, keep track of sources and ask questions. Check here for tips.

I’ve noticed that you seem to have South African Roots like me, may I give you some tips for South African research?

When posting questions to G2G that relate to South African profiles or sources use "South_Africa" as one of your tags as this will help researchers particularly interested in South Africa to see your post (do type the underscore).

Here’s a great page to help with resources South African Roots Sources, and maybe you'd like to join the South African Roots Project? There's also the sub-projects: Anglo Boer War 1899-1902, Voortrekkers and Cape of Good Hope.

In South African research we have a few quirks and rules ~ a particular one is to please use the correct Country Naming as was used at the time of the event. Another one is Name fields on profiles. And here's the South African Roots Help page, it's filled with all kinds of delightful South African related tips.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Happy tree climbing
